Really wet. You just won't believe how vastly hugely mind-bogglingly wet it is. I mean, you might think that you'll get wet walking down the street to the chemist, but that's just peanuts to Fox!"
That was pretty much the scene that we woke up to. The heli hike guide from yesterday wasn't exaggerating when he said that it rains round here.
So we left Fox and headed down to Wanaka, picking up a rather soggy Dutch girl along the way (who also wanted to go to Wanaka).
We drove past a bunch of cliffs along the side of the road that weren't so much covered in waterfalls, but WERE waterfalls. The entire cliff was depositing water down into the drains on the side of the road (which were coping admirably).
After a while, the rain stopped, and the sun came out, and we were able to go back to stopping every 2 miles to take photos.
Wonder how the folks in the Jags were doing in that rain...
ReplyDeleteYour spectacular photos of a rain-washed landscape seen through rain-washed air remind us of the almost-universal phenomenon of photos taken on holidays (or indeed treks) whereby the weather is always perfect, but there are long gaps.
I think I've added to the precipitation by dribbling on the computer due to the pretty topography.
ReplyDeleteHow undignified of me.
Aha! Got to your latest post! It's all very awesome! Hope your not holed up hiding from the rain in fox.... Keep enjoying, snapping and posting!! :-)
